THE NOSE (theatre+iPhone) by Nicolay Gogol
adapted and directed by Oleg Liptsin
creative video art software – Kevin Quennesson
based on the famous comic phantasmagoria by Russian classic comedy author Nicolay Gogol
THE NOSE is an experimental avant-garde style performing collage of ancient tradition of live narration and modern technological achievements of our time. The piece was formed through collaboration between software engineer and video artist Kevin Quennesson and internationally renowned theatre director and performer Oleg Liptsin. The blend of interactive video technology, live acting and most recent internet tools and applications represents the attempt to create a modern interpretation of the classical myth, as well as to develop a new language of communication between art forms and contemporary audiences. This production is part of the currently developing multi-art project GOGOL'S OVERCOAT – mutual artistic effort of the international group of artists and IT engineers, who live and work in Bay Area.
